After the Guide unit being shut for 2 years, myself - Charlie (Assistant Guide Leader) and Jenny (Guide Leader) will be opening the unit again from 23rd April 2012. Meeting weekly on Monday evenings at Beath and Cowdenbeath North Church at 8 pm - 9.30 pm, leading a unit of girls aged 10 - 14 years. During the meetings different activities will take place such as games, arts and crafts, camp fires and sporting activities. We also encourage the girls to complete some badges and 'Go For It' challenges in which will help them gain or improve their skills such as hosting, communication and cooking, this is normally done during the weekly meetings or within their own time. The girls will have an opportunity to go on various day outs and camp holidays and also take part in various guding events within the local community and nationally. Right now, BT Infinity is rolling out across the country, and I'm sorry to say that even though Dunfermline and Dalgety Bay are now active, we poor folk in Cowdenbeath aren't even on BTs radar. Even the Inverkeithing exchange goes live end of March 2012!! It says on the BT website that we won't even have BT Infinity by the end of 2012! This is unacceptable in my view, and I believe the reason for BTs lack of interest is the lack of information that YOU have had access to...until now. IT IS MY MISSION TO BRING BT INFINITY TO THE COWDENBEATH AREA FAST! Before Facebook, Twitter and other social sites which are now an integral part of our community and culture existed, there was email and text message. Talk about the stone age! But even with this "simple" technology, my friends and I back in 2003-2004 got BT to pay attention to our cries for Broadband, and the outcome was BT bringing Broadband services to the Cowdenbeath area a lot FASTER than was initially intended. There is NO Reason why we can't do it again. But this time we have the PEOPLE POWER behind us to accelerate the process even faster than before. Ok, so why do you care? Fair question... On average, the speed for internet users right now is between 3Mb and 5Mb. And for those really unfortunate ones, you're lucky if you get 1-2Mb. BT Infinity is BTs latest technology to bring you Broadband speeds upto 40Mb.
