Unlike the newer iPhone 4, the older iPhone 3 and 3GS front screens are fixed to the LCD panel below with small screws making them easier to fix (and hence, cheaper!) Iphone 4 Is your iPhone 4 screen cracked? iPhone 4 screens have a different design to the older 3G and 3GS models in that the front glass is bonded to the LCD display at the factory. Unfortunately this means that you have to replace both parts when repairing an iPhone 4. Do not be fooled by companies offering to replace the front screen only; Apple bond the glass screen to the LCD panel and any attempt to seperate them WILL break the LCD screen! The only satisfactory way to repair an iPhone 4 screen is to replace the entire screen assembly with a new part. After which, the phone will be as good as new!
