Hi, i'm Shona i am a middle aged single mum who has been so busy juggling work,family, home etc that i never took time to enjoy other things that bring me joy until recently, i have had a whole load of health problems for the last 5 yrs that doctors were unable to diagnose until around a year ago.i have now been diagnosed with some very debilitating conditions the main one being Fibromyalgia. the prospect of "no cure" has had a very bad affect on my mental health namely depression,but i am now on the road to kind of living a life again rather than just merely existing and this has been helped by actually having time to appreciate things that i just didn't have time for before. i have always had a love of antiques, particularly porcelain & furniture, i have a true passion for anything made from wood, i never cease to be amazed by peoples talent and am often left awe struck when i stumble across a facebook page or a web site belonging to someone who has turned a plain old wooden stick or a piece of wool into something totally wonderful. i have also found it greatly theraputic to my health to sit with a needle & thread when my illness permits and have befriended so many other people who have found that crafting is therapy.due to my health i am unable to make or repurpose enough items to make a living at it ,but this page is not really about that, it is more a place for me to share likes ,passions and ideas with other people who appreciate such joy in the the whole world of "shabby chic".i will be posting as often as my health permits & would love to hear from & or share pages of like minded people.thanks for stopping by & if you would like me to share your own pages drop me a message. xx

My idea is to have a stop in shop for everyone to use as if it's their own personal wardrobe. A shop where designer, vintage, off the peg pieces and accessories are available to buy. If customers wanted they could bring their own outfit to accessorise and dress up. I will also offer a facility where I can sell your "pre-loved" clothes for a small price. I want to create an experience second-to-none and unlike anything anyone will have seen. Shoppers can try on all the pieces they wish, have their makeup done professionally. top up their tan, bat their eyelashes and have a drink and a gossip all in the comfort of one place, my shop. Based in the historic town of Dunfermline, The Glass Slipper has been in business for over ten years. It's recently been taken over and refurbished by Lauren, a customer who fell in love with the boutique whilst buying her own wedding dress there. It's taken seven years, but Lauren's finally the owner. Come on in and try something on - appointments are necessary. Alterations: Once your gown has been delivered, we will be pleased to organise any alterations necessary to ensure it fits perfectly. Approximately eight weeks before your big day, contact us to arrange a fitting appointment at the boutique with our highly experienced Dressmaker. Alteration charges are paid directly to the Dressmaker. Dress Preparation: To ensure your gown looks fantastic on your big day, we offer a complimentary dress steaming service. Simply bring your gown in a week before your wedding day, and we will steam it, removing any creases. If you did not purchase your dress from us, we offer a chargeable steaming service. The current prices are £10 for a bridesmaid, prom, or evening dress, and between £40 and £60 for a bridal gown. Please note that we cannot steam silk dresses. Morning of the Wedding: To ensure you are able to relax and enjoy the morning of your wedding, we offer a Bridal Dressing Service. We will travel to your home to assist with the fitting and staging of your dress. The service includes a planning meeting a week or so before the big day, so any details can be discussed. We'll also pick up your dresses for steaming at this time. The package cost is: Dressing the bride: £50 Dressing the bridesmaids: £10 each This service is normally only offered to brides who live within 15 miles of the boutique. If you live further away than this and want to use the service, please call us to discuss. When it's all over: To ensure your gown is lovely to look at for years to come, we can arrange for it to be cleaned and boxed. Simply have it dropped off at the boutique after your wedding, and we will have it ready when you return from your honeymoon. The current price for this service is: Cleaning Only: £50 Cleaning and Boxing: £110 If you wish to arrange for your dress to be cleaned separately, but would still like to store it in one of our gorgeous boxes, the box prices are: Small Box: £60 Large Box: £75
