After finishing my dancing career all around the world i have decided to do my dream!!!
Kelly Michelle Dunlop was born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk in 1980. She started dancing at the age of 4 in Suffolk at the Kay Goddard School of Dance where Ballet was the first style she studied. Having successfully completed a Ballet exam every year she decided at 8 years old that Tap and Modern would be her next challenges. At the age of 9 her family moved back to Dereham, Norfolk where she carried on her dancing at a local school . Continuing to progress with all her dance exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern and now Jazz she also competed in numerous festivals in and around Norfolk, not least the All England Dance Festival. At the age of 14, having performed in countless productions, Kelly knew that this is what she wanted to do so moved to the Carla Leney School of Dance in Norwich. This is where Carla Leney helped her get into a Dance College, the dream was only just beginning
In 1996 Kelly auditioned for the Elmhurst Ballet School and secured herself a place there, however due to the high tuition fees and Kellys limited funds she opted for a Dance Scholarship and successfully secured a placement at the renowned Studio La Pointe Dance College in Leeds where her course started in September 1996.
Studio La Pointe gave Kelly the best 3 years of her life dancing from the early morning until late on in the afternoon, more often than not she would stay on until late in the evening teaching her own classes, she was in her element!
Having successfully completed her Performing Arts and Teachers course, with distinctions, Kelly left Studio La Pointe with 5 teaching qualifications, almost unheard of still to this day. AISTDBB, AISTDMB, AISTDTB, AISTD NB and RADtc are but a few of the letters Kelly can put after her name!
Kellys first professional appointment having left college was for the world famous Spirit of the Dance show, where she performed for one year on the European and UK tour. Due to injury she sadly had to hang up her Irish dance shoes and quickly moved on to the world of Cruising, working and performing around the world on the Asuka (Japanese Cruise Ship) and Saga Rose and Saga Ruby (British Ocean Liners)
While working on the Ships Kellys leadership and teaching abilities did not go unnoticed and she soon became both Company Manager and Dance Captain both of which were challenging roles but as always she relished the positions and loved every minute. Having cruised around Japan on Asuka for 4 years Kelly felt a change of scenery was in order. It was then that Kelly started working as Dance Captain for Saga Cruise Lines and it was here that she met her true love and now fiancé Wesley.
After 3 years with Saga Kelly decided it was time to get back to terra firma however the passion of teaching, particularly at her own dance school, remained the final part of her dream she needed to complete, and so the Dance With Me Academy was born
She is so excited about expanding and can't wait to see some new faces to her happy little family xxx
