The official Student's Union website is found at:
http://www.surhul.co.uk/
which provides links to different campus societies, the comm card, on-campus facilities and any contact details you may need. It isn't the most reliable website so you might find your questions answered quicker by us lot who spend more time on Facebook than studying!!
Royal Holloway is situated at the top of Egham Hill, with connecting links to London via the Egham train station every half hour or easily driven by taking the M25 and M4 direct into Central London. The College runs buses throughout the day from Egham train station to the campus, and likewise from Kingswood.
Within the surrounding area you have Wentworth Golf Course, aquatic activities in Virginia Water, Windsor Great Park, Thorpe Park, Reading Festival during the Summer, and easy access to Brighton via M25 & M11. Bringing a car to uni in your second year when you have the option of a parking space in a residential area is definitely a bonus in order to see these things with minimum hassle!
Egham is a town dominated by the University. There is no overwhelming hive of activity day and night, but there has been a good influx of new student-led activitiy in the last three years. Insanity have expanded the variety of events they offer, RAG are more prolific throughout the year, Orbital have created SU nights and journalistic events, there is now an official Formal Dining Club in Founders, Love To Make Noise are providing alternative scene music events for those bored of the mainstream, the Drama Society and Student Workshop continue to pump out many great plays a term to get involved with, and this is just a small sample of what we could think happens socially around here!
Don't be put off by the small locale and grumbling by some students, there really is a lot to do at RHUL, and if it doesn't exist... create it! University is about you having an amazing time as well as learning to test yourself, you will have one of the greatest experiences of your life by coming to Holloway... so start getting EXCITED!!!
Rant over.

FOOD on Campus:
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
THE HUB - More than just a student dining hall, the Hub is a modern, buzzing social space. It serves a wide selection of hot meals, including authentic cooked-to-order stir fries and delicious gourmet burgers. For a lighter snack, try the varied salad bar or a steaming bowl of homemade soup.
COFFEE & CAKE - Located within the Hub, Coffee & Cake serves what you would expect from its name – sensational Fairtrade gourmet coffee and delicious homemade cakes. It also offers speciality teas, smoothies, muffins, pastries, paninis, baguettes and fresh salads. The TV shows daily news and afternoon films, making it a great place to relax between lectures.
FOUNDER'S - has been serving student meals since 1886, and students can still experience dining in Victorian grandeur. Open throughout term time for residents, it offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. On Sunday's residents can enjoy a relaxing brunch and a complimentary newspaper.
CAFE JULES - Well known for its homemade baguettes and speciality coffees, Café Jules is situated in the centre of campus, making it an ideal place for grabbing a quick drink or snack between lectures. On sunny days, a seat on the International Building terrace is a great spot to watch the world go by.
CROSSLANDS - is located in the heart of the College’s main Founder’s Building, and opens out onto the South Quad. Ranging from early morning coffees, breakfast rolls and croissants, to lunchtime baked potatoes, with a variety of hot and cold snacks available throughout the day, in the evening it comes alive as a stylish and relaxed bar. While enjoying the cocktails and draught and bottled drinks, visitors can enjoy wide screen televisions and regular music events.
KW'S - This is the place where Kingswood residents can enjoy a home style dinner in an informal atmosphere. KW’s serves hot main meals, soups, salads, hot sandwiches made to order, mouth watering desserts and weekend brunch. Regular theme nights include Tapas, Italian, Chinese and Mexican evenings. As a reflection of the close Kingswood community, the staff at KW’s try to go that extra mile - if there is a particular dish you really want, you can let them know. They can’t guarantee it’ll be exactly the same as you get at home, but will do their best!
8BAR9 - Located in Kingswood Halls of Residence, 8bar9 provides a warm welcome, a choice of great food throughout the day, and a place to chill out in the evening. They serve breakfast for all Kingswood residents, a wide selection of made to order hot food and snacks at lunchtime and in the evening, and fresh coffee throughout the day. In the evening, 8Bar9 becomes a great place to socialise with friends and the bar serves a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including an ever-changing cocktail menu. Special events include Kingswood Karaoke, movie nights, and open mic. nights.
SCR - is a place for postgraduate research students and staff to enjoy lunch or hold informal meetings. A wide range of drinks and snacks are available throughout the day, as well as a cooked lunch menu such as the very popular roast dinner on a Thursday.
STUMBLE AND MEDICINE - will be selling a bit of food this year, pizzas, sausage rolls, jacket potato's, cakes etc...
LITTLE CONVENIENCE STORE - located near the Windsor's building you can pick up a few newsagent type items.
YOUR VERY OWN KITCHEN! - With an on-campus shop, allotment, and a weekly fruit and vegetable market in the Students' Union, there's no excuse not to eat healthily and cheaply. All self-catered halls are equipped with everything you need to cook up a storm in the kitchen. If your culinary skills need a bit of work, or if you are stuck for inspiration, the College has signed up to studentcooking.tv - a stylish and informative website that shows students how to cook great tasting, nutritious meals on a budget.
