Team Congleton
Team Congleton is a successful community programme launched in 2009 to encourage sporting and cultural activities throughout the town.
Team Congleton wants to involve and motivate the people of congleton through a series of special 2012 celebratory events to maintain our place in Olympic history.
Team Congletons journey kicks off with Ann Packer,MBE, running the final stage of a 60 mile relay conveying a special celebratory message from the Mayor of Much Wenlock (the birthplace of the modern Olympics!) to his Congleton Counterpart.
Thereafter, Team Congleton will launch a succession of 'Olympic themed' activities designed to attract individuals, teams, schools, societies and cultural organisations.
Our ambition is to create a fun, competitive spirit and establish a community bond with the auspicious events taking place in London.
President of Team Congleton is Ann Brightwell MBE, 1964 Olympic 800m Gold medalist and Britain's first female track medalist.
Vice President is Robbie Brightwell MBE, Olympic Silver medalist and 1964 Olympic Team Captain.
