Gillingham Skatepark

Hardings Lane, Gillingham ,
Gillingham Skatepark has played a huge role as a fun, healthy and free activity for the whole community, in particular the young people of gillingham. Sadly the skatepark is now beyond repair and will be closed within the next two years. We have been working hard to save our skatepark and we are hoping to raise enough money to create a long lasting, fun and safe enviroment for the whole community.

"BONES" has been described as "Tardis Like" because until you have been inside it you dont know how large it is! The Coffee Bar fronts a Sports Hall; there's also a kitchen (for cooking/eating activities) and a room for arts/crafts pS2 etc.We have a pool table, air hockey, Wii and masses of other resources. Outside are basketball nets. Platform1 is on the other side of our yard and is a smaller cosier part of the Club designed to accommodate the "drop in" style of approach of Senior Members. We provide free and confidential one to one support to adults in Medway who are ready to make a healthy lifestyle change. Our staff are called Health Trainers. They are local people who have been trained to: • Discuss which area of your lifestyle you would like to improve • Encourage you to set small, achievable goals • Give you time, motivation and support • Connect you to another service, group or activity that you feel might be useful and accompany you on your first visit. Health Trainers can work with you to address the following areas: • Healthy Eating • Exercise • Drinking sensibly • Smoking • Stress You will be offered up to 10 sessions. Appointments usually last 30 minutes – 1 hour. At your first appointment we’ll discuss how the service works and what you hope to achieve. If you decide to proceed then we’ll talk about your current lifestyle, wellbeing and the reasons you want to change. At this point some people will be ready to set themselves a goal and we’ll discuss how you can achieve it. Others might want longer to reflect on their current habits and keep a record for the next appointment. Some people might need a few sessions before they are ready to set goals. We work at your pace. We’ll arrange to meet in a convenient and comfortable place near you. We meet people in community centres, libraries, cafes and Healthy Living Centres across Medway as well as at our base, the Sunlight Centre in Gillingham. We can see you somewhere private if necessary, although this might mean you have to travel further. We are unable to visit you at home. If you have any questions call us on 01634 338892. If you are near the Sunlight Centre then come in and ask at reception for a Health Trainer.
