Charlie’s is a family run restaurant and bar serving modern classic Chinese cuisine expertly put together by executive head chef Joe Chong. Joe specialises in sourcing the very best of fresh seafood and prime cuts of meat allowing the ingredients to speak for themselves. On Fridays and Saturdays to accompany our fine dishes are signature deserts created by our in house pastry chef Nathan Chong and on Sundays we have the popular all you can eat buffet. The front of house team is headed up by general manager Charlie Chong a well known figure in Harpenden for over 22 years and renowned for his charisma and personal touch that he brings to service. The ethos of the restaurant is about top quality ingredients and service. Fresh seafood, vegetables and meat will be sourced from London’s most prestigious fresh produce markets. Signature deserts will be skilfully prepared in the open plan desert kitchen and will vary from week to week. With this in mind, the restaurant will operate a ‘when it’s gone it’s gone’ policy. No artificial colourings or preservatives are added to our dishes and the vast majority of the menu is MSG free. The venue is split into three main areas the formal restaurant, bar and garden allowing diners to flow between the three as they choose. Diners will be invited to relax in the well stocked bar pre-dinner whilst the baby grand piano resonates throughout the rooms. Post drinks can be had in either bar or restaurant and on warmer evenings guests will have the choice of alfresco dining out on the patio or decked garden. The venue is well equipped to accommodate all sizes of parties offering intimate coves, to the large function room.
