TinyTalk - Mid Sussex
Hi I am Cassie Yeend; mum to three children. Eva (8), Lily (7) and Jason (2). I baby signed with Eva and Lily as a stay at home mum, but with just eleven months between the girls, I never had much confidence to leave the house alone! The girls remember many of their signs and absolutely love teaching their baby brother and trying to communicate with him. Whilst not working and at home with the girls I went back to college in the evenings and started learning British Sign Language (BSL), and am now qualified to level 2.
TinyTalk classes are so beneficial, the mixture of singing and signing in a relaxed, fun and entertaining atmosphere to well known songs and rhymes is the perfect setting for the signs to be introduced. Baby signing is a skill which you can use in your day to day life with your baby and gives you a window into their mind and lets them tell you what they want, feel or see. On top of all this its a great opportunity for you to meet other families and carers, enjoy a chat, a cuppa and a chocolate biscuit whilst the babies are happily playing with the toys provided. I know as a mother how thrilling it is when your baby does their first sign/signs so why not come along and join me so I can teach you! I look forward to seeing you there.
The age at which mums bring their babies to baby sign class is very individual. You can sign with your baby from birth, if a baby sees the signs regularly they can sometimes let you know that they understand them by about 5 months with lots of excited arm waving and toe curling when they see the milk sign. By approximately 6-7 months they can start to sign back, normally when they are able to clap and wave.
No experience necessary! Just bring a baby and have fun! I look forward to seeing you soon.
I cover the Mid Sussex area, which includes, Haywards Heath, Cuckfield, Lindfield, Burgess Hill and many more surrounding villages.
