Description Ground Floor Project was so named because it has created and assisted companies to get up and running - one such company is Hour Car (Un) Ltd, which was one of the first car share companies in the North of England. Hour Car is still resident at Salem Community Resource Centre where it recently took delivery of a Chrysler Volt Electric car. Ground Floor Project manages the centre and houses a number of Community Groups who regularly use its halls. Salem Community resource Centre employs volunteers, job seeking staff and also employs in its subsidiary companies - Dot Communications and 3RiT - 4 paid p/t staff and volunteers. Ground Floor project itself employs two paid members of staff and 3 apprentices together with other volunteers. It is a not for profit charity. Having previously twice been three year recipients of the Duke Of York Community Initiative award (2007 & 2010) in 2010 it was awarded the highest accolade when it was granted the Queens Award for its services to the Calderdale Community and its work with volunteers.
