In the Far East, the White Crane is a symbol of long life, good health and peacefulness. The White Crane Karate School has been established in Barnet for over twenty five years. Chief Instructor Shihan Steve Duffy 5th Dan Black Belt Shoseikan/JKF Gojukai has been studying karate for over three decades under top Japanese and Western masters. Shoseikan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do is the style of martial art taught at our school.We are affiliated to Kancho Katsuichi Ishihara 9th Dan, the founder of World Shoseikan Karatedo. All of our Instructors are fully insured and CRB checked. We hold a variety of classes throughout the week for both adults and children. If you are interested in self-defence, fitness, building up your confidence or making good friends, please book a trial lesson by email or telephone. We are the Student Office for the School of Health and Social Science (HSSc). The school provides courses, research and services to business in the following subject areas: Initial Acute and Adult Nursing Criminology and Sociology Mental Health and Social Work Midwifery, Child Health and Primary Care Natural Sciences Psychology Social Sciences The HSSc Hendon Student Office is the first point of call for students for advice and support from the Student Office team. Data, Assessment and Academic Support officers are also based in the HSSc Hendon Student Office providing specialist expert advice to staff and students on all aspects of MISIS data, assessment and academic support. The team works closely with the Director of Resources and Students and the Associate Dean Learning, Quality & Enhancement and the following indicates some of the areas covered: Collection of Coursework Liaising with local authorities and the Student Loan Company Responding to requests from students Producing transcripts Operating the University's deferral system Producing documentation for Assessment Boards Maintaining students' MISIS records Monitoring statistics and producing data reports Maintaining a drop-in duty advice system to ensure appropriate academic support Providing expert advice to students and staff on all aspects of programme planning, assessment and data

The Centre is registered with Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) and is inspected regularly. All Centre staff have followed a policy of safe recruitment and all staff have enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks. Childcare workers are fully qualified and benefit from ongoing training.

A Raise and Give society is all about raising money for charity whilst involving as many students as possible and having as much fun as possible! We aim to raise thousands of pounds for some very worthy charities. We have a lot of events in the pipeline, including ideas such as pub crawls, cake sales, pub quizzes, jailbreaks, raids, auctions, raffles, rollerskating... The possibilities are endless. The awesome thing about a RAG event is as long as it makes money for charity we’ll organise it, so if you have any ideas for an event you’d like to take place, let us know!

Our members can choose from cardiovascular machines such as treadmills and rowers, resistance equipment including free weights and dedicated stretching areas and fitness aids such as Swiss balls. For a fitness programme tailored to your needs, just ask a Better fitness instructor and they'll be happy to put together a workout to suit you. Before using the gym you'll need to complete an induction, so our fitness instructors can check you are well enough to train. As well this gives you the opportunity to get advice about other activities the centre may offer which could help you achieve your fitness goals. Re-focus sessions are available to you at any time, where our fitness instructors will mix up your fitness programme. Did you know that keeping your workout more varied and challenging will actually keep you much fitter? STUDIO We have one main group exercise studio for group exercise, which is large and bright with mirrored walls. Over 50 classes a week are available, ranging from Aerobiking to Yoga. We also provide specialist equipment for the latest classes such as Power Pump, Boxfit and Cardio Blast.
