I am a skilled tradesman, with over forty years experience in the building industry. I started employment with Jones & Harvey in 1962, and later Stanley Berwick Limited (both local firms now sadly gone – but highly respected for their quality work). I am a City & Guilds qualified decorator, interiors and exteriors. I also worked for many years with another local building firm G Willingham & Sons, Ightham.
I have a love of and talent for gardening, learned as a boy from my father, who was head gardener on a local private estate for many years. I enjoy growing plants and vegetables in my own garden, and a keen interest in wildlife, particularly birds, and in fishing. I always have a project on the go in the garden, as there is nothing that cannot be improved upon over time.
Following a long spell in self-employed decorating in the 1980s, I have also held employed posts in green-keeping at a local golf centre and as site manager/handyman at several establishments in the Tonbridge area.
I returned to working for myself in decorating and property maintenance (including some gardening) in 2004 and enjoy the variety as I never know what a ‘phone enquiry will bring me next.
I have lived in the Sevenoaks/Tonbridge area all my life, and my customers will happily recommend me because I am honest, reliable, and polite. I work to the highest standards and quote realistic prices for a good job, well done. I am fully insured and customer security and safety at home and at work is my key objective. I always leave a tidy worksite.
No job is too much trouble. But if you are asking me to do something outside my remit, then I will cheerfully tell you. I stick to the jobs I know I can do. I am not and never will be a qualified electrician or plumber – but I always know a man who is…..
There are an awful lot of “cowboys†out there, who are tarnishing the name of skilled workers…. They might charge a knock-down price – but can they really do a good job? Very often sadly not.
