Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre, Selkirk Drive, Holmes Chapel ,
‘Holmes Chapel Harriers’ Running Club is a friendly and supportive group of mixed aged and ability runners who meet each week to improve performance and keep fit! The Club is COMPLETELY FREE and not just for those wishing to enter competitive races. Many members enjoy running with friends who have a common interest in physical health and fitness. Running is said to help not just weight loss, physical appearance and shape, but also mental health. There are not many reasons not to try! We meet every Friday at 6.30pm at Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre (reception area) and we’d love to welcome you at a training session. We’re also fully affiliated by the National Governing Body, Run In England, which means as a member you are fully insured too. Please note that regular runners are asked to bring along their own reflective clothing even at times of daylight or during the summer months. This can be provided for beginners from reception to borrow before the start of a session. The club is operated by John Noakes (Running John), our resident 'Mr. Motivator'. He’s helpful, approachable and enthusiastic and ready to answer any question you may have. So, if you live in (or around) the Holmes Chapel area, please come and join our fantastic club.

Terra Nova School

Terra Nova School

Terra Nova School, Holmes Chapel ,
Terra Nova is an independent day and boarding school nestled in a stunning location in rural Cheshire. The School setting is peaceful, but is a short journey from Manchester, Liverpool and Chester. We offer the highest quality of education, building firm and balanced foundations for children aged three to 13. Set in 36 acres of beautiful grounds, and surrounded by dedicated teachers, many of whom live onsite, our nurturing, family environment provides the perfect setting for inspiring children to achieve their potential. When you combine this with the wonderful breadth of opportunity on offer, you will see that any child truly has the chance to excel. Our children gain a breadth of experience that will enable them to be confident and well-rounded individuals, secure and happy, and ready for their future. Children both love to learn and learn to live life to the full – values that will form the basis of their success. Our teaching staff are experienced and dedicated; bringing subjects to life, and instilling in pupils a love of learning. Our healthy independent senior school scholarship awards are evidence of our commitment to the highest academic standards, and our children’s appetite for learning. Personal, creative and physical development are closely bound with academic success, and our children have access to a myriad of extra curricular activities, forming an integral part of our stimulating, forward-thinking approach. Our experienced teachers also provide the best in pastoral care, which ensures that our children’s personal needs are met. Pupils are able to board from the age of seven, and we offer flexible boarding options to fit in with family life; children can board one day a week or all term. We have a dedicated boarding house and staff, and boarders have their own common room. Headmaster Andrew Lewin has undertaken a significant development programme to enhance the facilities since joining three years ago. Focusing on the teaching and learning; two brand new classrooms have been created, whilst three other classrooms have been extended and we have a new, fully-equipped ICT Suite. We’ve remodelled our central teaching area, giving our children easy access to our ICT suite, Language Centre, Science laboratories, the Design Technology and Art rooms, the Music department, Performing Arts Centre and our Learning Resources department, as well as their classrooms. The Nursery has also undergone refurbishment as we’ve made the main classrooms larger and added a ‘creative room’, a large dining room, a multi-purpose space and an exciting outdoor learning environment with outside huge space, adventure play area, a vegetable and herb garden, multi sensory zones, a role-play setting, science and investigation opportunities and a great big sand pit. Terra Nova has recently added a new floodlit all-weather sports pitch, greatly enhancing the facilities outside the classroom; something that is central to the ethos of our School. All these new ventures form part of a longer term development programme for Terra Nova that stretches beyond the next five years. From an extremely sound financial position, we believe we have the perfect opportunity to enhance your child’s learning experience.
