Swankytramps
First of all, let us tell you a little about ourselves. We are, 'Swanky Tramps', an established husband and wife team operating a traditional 'cottage industry', originally from our home-based workshops in Whitburn on the picturesque and rugged North East coastline. We have now moved to custom workshops in Jarrow as we have outgrown our home base!
A few years ago we rejuvenated some of our own furniture at home, following lots of positive comment and requests for similar from friends and family we decided to start our own business, 'Swanky Tramps'.
The 'Swanky Tramps', shabby chic process is quite indepth and involves the following steps;
Clean and degrease the piece.
Remove old, flaking paint / varnish and sand back.
Prime.
Undercoat.
Flatback.
2-3 Coats of topcoat.
Flatback.
Distress*. (*4 grades of distress, Light, Medium, Heavy & Blend)
2-3 coats of wax applied and buffed.
As you can see, a lot of work goes into each piece, they are all done by hand by ourselves using only top quality finishes. Most of our colour palette is also unique to us as we blend our own shades for that extra individuality.
We also love to do things a bit differently when it comes to rejuvenating sofas and armchairs, reupholstering with patchwork, toille and all sorts. Have a look at the pics on here and on our website to see what we're all about!!
