We have a national and international reputation in the fields of independent language learning and computer-aided language learning. Our Language Learning Centre has been the lead site for a national HEFCE-funded project to disseminate best practices in language learning provision.
We offer four taught postgraduate programmes:
MA in TESOL
MA in Translation Studies
MA in TESOL with Translation Studies
MA Translation Studies with TESOL
Research Degrees
The department pursues research in film studies, translation studies, language technology, gender studies, medieval studies and textual studies. We currently supervise MRes and PhD students in most of those areas. If you are thinking of submitting a research proposal you may find it helpful to consult the Department’s staff profile.
