New School of Music is situated within the grounds of Brooklands School, Brooklands Drive in Leighton Buzzard. At NSOM you can learn to play the music you love in a creative, professional and most important of all fun environment. Our expert instructors are passionate about music education and make it easy for you to learn a new instrument or sing, whether you're 6 or 60, have been playing for years or just starting out. Needless to say they are all fully CRB checked. We teach group and individual lessons in guitar, bass, drums, piano, keyboards, singing and woodwind, run music theory classes for those students who want to learn more about the inner workings of music, live performance workshops for bands and songwriting classes in our fully equipped studios. All of our students have plenty of performance opportunities throughout the year, whether that's at concerts at the New School of Music or at NSOM organised gigs at local venues. Meet and play with like-minded musicians and perform in front of an audience or simply enjoy making music in the privacy of your home - we can help you achieve your aspirations.

The Academy is held every Saturday mornings and Friday evenings (excluding half term) and focuses on putting together a showcase at the end of each term and a Variety Performance once a year for family, friends and the public to enjoy. Every week will vary, one week may focus on a song with movement, another week staging an acting piece all gearing up to the end of term performance. The Academy not only teaches theatre skills but also to work as a team, building confidence and forming friendships outside the school environment. Above all a lot of fun is had with the exhilaration you get when experiencing a musical theatre high!

It is a unique opportunity for underage drivers to enjoy learning while realising the importance of road safety. The ultimate aim is to instill a safe attitude which can be carried forward to the age

Since our inception in September 2002, we have achieved a 100% pass mark in examinations taken. Pupils from the school have successfully auditioned for, and accepted places at The Royal Ballet, London Senior Ballet School,Sylvia Young Theatre School,Tring Park School Classical Academy, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College, Italia Conti, Bird College,Laban,Urdang, Masters and Stella Mann College-several of them with full or part scholarships. In addition pupils from LHTS have appeared in professional productions including in the last couple of years Billy Elliot, Oliver! and also Chitty Chitty Bang Bang all in London’s West End. We have also had students who have auditioned for and performed in the London Children’s Ballet production of Ballet Shoes and the English Youth Ballet’s Nutcracker and Coppelia-four again with scholarships. Over the last ten years the school has also supplied the dancers for several professional pantomimes alongside stars from the stage and screen. The school also enjoys continued success in dance festivals throughout the country and in the All England Competition including at the national finals in London.
