ABOUT US: Lowestoft and Oulton Broad Swimming Club was formed in 2005 by amalgamation of two successful competitive swimming clubs in Waveney. “Lowestoft Swimming Club” & “Oulton Broad Swimming Club”. They had each been successful teaching and coaching centres in their own right prior to the amalgamation and had aspirations to be even more successful. In May 2006, in partnership with Sport England and Waveney District Council, the club employed its first full time Head Coach, Simon Pickering. Apart from the Head Coach, the club functions on a substantial base of volunteers (approximately 80) and without them, it would simply cease to exist. The club essentially is competitive in nature but with the wish to cater for all. Based on the principles of LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) the whole club structure, which is Lead by our Head Coach, currently houses between 520 to 550 members including the Learn to Swim. Our members come from all over the Waveney area but we also have members from over the county border in Norfolk.

Pleasurewood Hills is a family theme park set within 59-acre (240,000 m2) of gorgeous woodland near Lowestoft, Suffolk. It's home to one of the scariest rides in the UK: HoBs PiT (Rated 12A by The BBFC) as well as the most extreme roller coaster in the region; Wipeout. Plus, with a dedicated 'Kiddies Zone' and our loveable characters; there's fun for all the family. Pleasurewood Hills is also home to three world-class shows including the world famous Sea Lion and Parrot Shows and the UK's biggest 'Grand Illusion' show with Britain's Got Talent star; Sean Alexander. The Theme Park is open for the main season between 29 March - 3 November 2013.

The names on the committee for this group are all volunteers giving their time to try to make Lowestoft a better place to live and work and BE. However, we certainly can't do it at all without any of you because this is - obviously - your home too, and getting input from you is paramount. That's why this group was formed, because we know that those who govern this town don't necessarily hear us when dictating how it's going to change. But put enough of those echoes together, put enough voices together and suddenly it isn't a single voice, it's a shout! We can't wave a magic wand and make this town a better place, it's not going to happen overnight but we CAN make it happen if enough of us get together and push for it. We need your knowledge, your support but most of all your voices. We CAN do this! Any questions, let us know and we'll do our best to resolve them. ;)

We always work very hard around the time of an investigation, and most of what you see is very little compared to how much is actually being done. We undertake a great deal of historical research, a full Health and Safety survey and Risk Assessments, a visit with the Core Team, extensive geomagnetic and Ordnance Survey map study and full weather report among other things prior to the full investigation,. Afterwards, we have sometimes hours and hours of data to sift through and scrutinise - photographs, video and audio. Every anomaly, every unusual sound and every unusual occurrence is documented, verified and scrutinised by our Core Team. Hard work, to be sure, but we'd rather be hard-working and professional than assume everything is an orb. ;)
