Preloved Baby Parlour
MISSION:
Our mission for Preloved Baby Parlour is to offer the opportunity for mum's to buy and sell quality baby and children's clothes, shoes and accessories for 0-8 year olds. Whether you call them preloved, second-hand, nearly new or new-to-you our promise is that all items will be of a good quality with a lot of wear still left in them and a greatly reduced price from new on the high-street.
All clothes will be laundered in non-bio and a gorgeous smelling fabric softener, ironed, folded and packaged up with love to be sent to their new little owners.
EST. 2013:
Preloved Baby Parlour was established in 2013 from a desire to bring truly affordable clothes to other mums. As a result of having our own babies, and wanting to kit them out in stylish yet hard-wearing, fun yet affordable clothes we went to nearly new sales and soon learned we couldn't wait for them to roll around once every 3-4 months. Coupled with a growing stash of clothes that were crying out to be worn again by other boys and girls, we decided to launch Preloved Baby Parlour to help join like minded mum's together, for the benefit of their tots (and our purses!)

We continue to get a great selection and range of clothes for all ages - from high-end highstreet and designer brands, to supermarket and well-known retail giants. We've also had some lovely lesser known (but designer) brands from Europe and further afield. You may just find your next favourite kids brand here...

HOW PRELOVED BABY PARLOUR WORKS:
For Sellers -
* Sellers can contact us and book in a selling slot which costs £2.50 up front.
* Sellers can put together up to 20 items (including clothes, jackets, snowsuits, pairs of shoes, grobags, hats and mittens) that are nearly new or new. No signs of heavy wear, bobbling or stains are acceptable.
* We have been asked several times if it can be UNDER 20 items - this is absolutely correct! It can be as few items as you like, but the MAXIMUM per price bracket is listed here only.
* Where space is available sellers can book double slots (40 items for £5).
* Please put all items in large 'bag for life' style bags (Ikea blue bags are perfect for this!). This helps us with storage of your items whilst they are with Preloved Baby Parlour, and means that it is easier to return your items as one job lot without the need for lots of plastic bags. Obviously where your items take up more than one bag full please use several!!
* Items are then dropped off, posted or picked up by us.
* All items are quality checked, laundered and photographed.
* Once uploaded the seller than has 24 hrs to reply with any changes to listed prices - TOP TIP: if you wish an item to sell for a specific amount please let us know upon drop off, or include a note with the item. Please be realistic on pricing items as we promise all items are priced according saleability (we consider brand, quality, condition of item, any marks, and what has recently sold that is similar and at what price!).
* All items are then uploaded to sex/age appropriate photo albums, and include the brand name, brief description, and their agreed price.
* Items will be listed on the Preloved Baby Parlour for two months. This begins on the 27th of the month the items are given in (for example - a delivery of items to sell is made on 16th April. Your items will be processed asap and put on the site for sale quickly, however your selling slot will commence on the 27th April - and will in this case run until 27th June).
* In the final week of your two-month listing any remaining unsold items will be moved from their gender/age specific albums and into our 'LAST CHANCE' album. This highlights to buyers that these are items are soon to be gone from our site, removed from sale, and that this is their last chance to purchase.
* Preloved Baby Parlour will receive 30% commission of any sold items (this is correct for all items taken as of 01st April 2013).
* Unsold items will be returned by pick-up, post, or delivery.
* Any monies from sold items will be received by the seller when items are collected or returned. Returning and paying of monies is usually done between 27th - 31st of the month (at month end).
PLEASE NOTE: WE CAN NOT ACCEPT -
* shoes under a kids UK size 3, including soft booties, unless they specifically come as part of a set (eg. dress, shoes and bloomers)
* heavily stained items, this includes paint and food stains. If marks are larger than a 5p piece, or there are several/many across the item PLEASE do not send it with your items.
* items that are thread bare in places.
* Items for 9 year olds and above. PBP only sells items for 0-8 year olds (We WILL accept 8-9 year old items or items labelled as 8-10 by the manufacturer.).
IF THESE ITEMS ARE GIVEN TO BE LISTED, WE WILL NOT LIST THEM ON THIS SITE AS OF 01/06/2013
PLEASE ALSO NOTE ITEMS PROVIDED FOR SALE MUST BE SUPPLIED IN A BAG FOR LIFE. IDEALLY A LARGE BLUE IKEA BAG AS THESE ARE IDEAL, HOWEVER WHERE THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE SEVERAL SMALLER BAGS ARE ALSO ACCEPTABLE. PLEASE DO NOT SQUASH ITEMS INTO THE SMALLEST BAG POSSIBLE AS IT MAKES THEM VERY HARD TO STORE IN A GOOD PRESSED CONDITION AHEAD OF SALE.

For Buyers -
* Preloved Baby Parlour will assign all items to sex/age specific photo albums with descriptions and prices per photographed item.
* Buyers COMMENT on a photo to express interest. 'Interested' or 'yes please' secure an item. Other questions such as 'how much?' or 'what length is this' (for example) do NOT secure an item.
* Where several people have expressed an interest the item will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
* If buyers do not get in touch to arrange pick-up/delivery and payment of items within 48 hours of commenting then the next person in line will be offered the item.
* Please message Preloved Baby Parlour once you have commented on items that you wish to buy, so that we can arrange a convenient method of getting the items to you, and can arrange cash on delivery or paypal payments. Please note no cheques or bank transfers are accepted.
* Preloved Baby Parlour will check all your items, move them to our 'pending sale' album, and package up your items for their new little owner!
* PLEASE NOTE: Items can not be returned if they don't fit the age listed on the tag on the garment. Should you have any queries or require measurements in centimetres then please don't hesitate to drop us a line and we'll be happy to help. 'Trying-on' sessions are also not available - as this is not a physical shop we simply do not have the capacity to do this. Buyers are therefore buying based on our pictures, description and the age in the tags of the clothes. Please be aware of the brands you are buying, as we all know certain brands come up smaller and others larger than the average. If you are unsure please drop us a line and we're always happy to advise, or to send measurements to be certain of the right fit.
WHY USE PRELOVED BABY PARLOUR
Preloved Baby Parlour takes the hassle out of having a clear out, and helps you make some money from your little ones clothes when sometimes they've barely been worn. With a captive audience and a growing number of 'Likes' per day, we have an active group of buyers who are always on the look out via our page for their next batch of preloved clothes.
We are cheaper than other second-hand clothing agents or shops who are currently charging up to 50% commission on sales. Other larger events charge a higher admin fee to register as a seller, also take more cut as commission and are a 'one day only' event. We don't make you stand in the rain, we don't make you haggle, we don't make you write out and pin on hundreds of tags, or think of all the prices. We list items for a long enough period of time to allow both regular and occasional visitors to the site and buyers to browse and see your items, this is not a lot of work for a flash-in-the-pan event. Your items will be clearly photographed and listed - there are no mountains of clothes for buyers to rummage through in the hope of finding your items, they won't get lost in the piles and forgotten. You don't risk losing items for 99p like on a bad day on ebay, and you don't have to worry about scheduling uploads and listing end times and being charged a fee for the pleasure! We have a set price policy, and do not entertain bids or offers of any nature.
Preloved Baby Parlour hopes to also add that personal touch. We are happy to 'be on the look out' for certain items for our buyers, and to work around the needs or our busy sellers. We aim to represent your clothes honestly and help everyone keep perfectly good quality, fun and often expensive baby clothes going to waste, hanging around in attics, or worse going off to landfill.
POSTAGE
If you prefer your purchases to be posted to you Preloved Baby Parlour uses 2nd class standard (as frankly it's the cheapest most economical way to do this!) and costs £2.60 for up to 750 grams. (This is correct as of the price increase in April 2013)
We keep tracking receipts for every package sent out, and should a parcel of preloved items go astray in the post, we shall return all money paid once this has been received by us from Royal Mail.
You will be sent a message from Preloved Baby Parlour letting you know the date your package was posted.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS
We are more than happy to ship packages of Preloved items to mama's and their babas worldwide. We promise to only charge the actual cost of carriage - we do not 'make money' on posting! We keep all receipts of postage, and in the event of something not turning up, as with UK-bound packages, we will refund any money paid once we have it ourselves from Royal Mail.
We have recently sent packages large and small to Australia, Singapore and Abu-Dhabi... Let us know where in the world you are - we'd love to hear from you!
All International packages, as with all postal packages, can ONLY be paid for via Paypal. We can not accept bank transfers.
PAYPAL
If making payments via paypal (buyers or sellers) an additional £0.60 charge will be added to cover the 'fee' we are charged by them. We will send buyers our paypal details when we have arranged this method of payment together.
DELIVERY
Certain areas are in our delivery zone, and will be charged at £2 for delivery per package. These include: Maidstone town centre, Penenden, Aylesford, Tovil, Madgingford, Detling, Thurnham, Bearsted, Harrietsham, Lenham, Charing,
Paddock Wood, Yalding, Wateringbury, Tunbridge Wells (central & St John's), Tonbridge, Rusthall, East & West Malling, Sevenoaks and Kemsing.
If you live in an alternate surrounding area outside those listed please drop us a line and we'll let you know how much it would cost for us to deliver. We will always do our best to keep it as low as possible and to group deliveries together in areas, and are always looking to add areas to the list above.
For mum's keen to grab a bargain and sell their tots clothes who live further afield please get in touch and we'll happily do everything by post. This really is a great option, and we've had great results from mum's up and down the country, including Yorkshire, London, Liverpool, Scotland & the Isle of Man.
PICK-UP/DROP-0FF IN PERSON
Preloved Baby Parlour welcome personal pick-up's and drop-off's of items as we love to meet the mum's and tots behind the clothes and get to know you all! We'll happily arrange a time for this to happen, and we'd always love to hear any ideas you have on how we can improve over a nice cuppa.
We are sorry to say we do not do 'trying on' sessions, and can not release items to mums without payment to try on either. Items can only be taken once paid for, and whilst items are listed on their tag or label sizes given in the garment we can not take back any items that simply 'do not fit' your little one when you've bought the correct age. We are happy to provide measurements (under arm to under arm / neck to hemline, etc..). Please bear in mind when buying that certain brands come up smaller and larger than others.
