COURSES AVAILABLE: **AS/A2 LEVEL MUSIC** EXAMINATION BOARD - WJEC COURSE DESCRIPTION The A Level Music course will provide you with the skills and ability to perform, develop musical ideas, listen to music and acquire analytical skills. AS/A2 UNITS There are 6 units, 3 AS units and 3 A2 units. AS UNITS MU1 Performing MU2 Composing MU3 Appraising A2 UNITS MU4 Performing MU5 Composing MU6 Appraising ASSESSMENT Internal and External Assessment which will vary depending on chosen route. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 5 GCSESs Grade A-C PROGRESSION Higher Education, conservatoires, careers in music as performer, teacher or the recording industry. **BTEC EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN MUSIC (Performance)** Level: 3 Duration:Full Time 2 Year Entry Requirements: BTEC First Diploma in Music, 4 GCSE’s at grade C or above. More mature learners may present a more varied profile or achievement that is likely to include experience of employment Course Description: These 18 unit National Diploma offer a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the sector. As such, the Diploma offers a qualification that can extend the study and provide vocational emphasis for learners who wish to follow a full time programme of study that is directly related to their work experience or to an aspect of employment that they wish to move into in due course. What you will Study: Live performance techniques Music performance project Singing World Music Performance Techniques Aural skills Improvisation On Completion/ Career Paths: Students may wish to pursue further study in this area. **FOUNDATION DEGREE IN CREATIVE INDUSTRIES (Popular Music) (L4)** Level: 4 Duration:2 years 13hrs per week (full time) Entry Requirements: BTEC Vocational Qualification at Level 3, A Level at grade A – C. Mature applicants msut possess relevant experience. All applicants will undergo a formal interview and take part in workshop session prior to selection. Course Description: The course of study will allow the individual to research, study and practice around the themes and issues based within the music sector. Studying practitoners and implementing their theories into practical music performances willbe at the core of the course of study. Students can specialise in performance or technology, whilst acquiring professional practice skills. An important element of the second year will be a placement with a partner organisation.
