TWO former international sports stars have brought the taste of Scotland to Tyneside. Wee Mac's Cafe and Takeaway set up in Hobson, near Burnopfield. Professional golfer Hugh MacDonald, sister Margaret MacDonald and bought the premises in Front Street. Like Hugh, hockey player Margaret represented Scotland at international level in her sport. Margaret had run a cafe in Scotland, serving actors such as Robbie Coltrane and members of the Taggart cast, but they have moved down to Tyneside to start their new business venture. The premises had previously been a cafe, but the new business has developed in to a takeaway service to complement this. Specialities include English and Scottish breakfasts, as well as dishes such as haggis and neeps.
