Oban Bay Brewery
We first brewed in June 2009 after acquiring the 5 barrel plant from the Isle of Mull Brewery in Tobermory, Mull. The brewing equipment was designed and built for the Isle of Mull Brewing Company in 2005 by George Thompson of Brewing Solutions. They started brewing in May of that year.
George was the production manager for the Belhaven Brewery and continues to be involved with the Oban Bay Brewery as our Consultant Brewer. Managing the production of our cask ales is Harry Forbes, who took up this post in July 2010 after previously working for Caledonian MacBrayne.
Following a merger of The Isle of Mull Brewing Company with the Oban Bay Brewery in late 2010 a new company, Argyll Breweries Limited, was formed with its main office in Tobermory. Argyll Breweries still trades as Isle of Mull and Oban Bay. Production of the cask ales is currently only at the Oban site, however, it is hoped that production will start again in Tobermory in the near future.
