What it’s like learning here
If you’d like to take a look at what it’s like to study on some of our courses, take a look here: http://youtu.be/oU3bktPxZUM - this film shows Senior lecturer Trevor Price talking about one of his courses.
There are other related films (here: http://www.youtube.com/theproacademy) produced by our Professional Academy colleagues showing different aspects of life at the University of Glamorgan. Here (http://uniglam.adobeconnect.com/p305gw9o8vb/) is a film focused upon our MSc Building Information Modelling and Sustainability course.
Timetabling and how our courses are delivered
For part-time students, which take 3 years to complete an MSc, we run our courses on one day of the week – usually Wednesdays (1st year of study) or Mondays (year 2) for the taught parts of the course. The dissertation comes in the final year, which is worked on in negotiation with your supervisor – it depends upon the type of research project you do.
During each year, you will need to complete 60 credits – this we break down into 3 modules (worth 20 credits each). This equates to 3 timetabled ‘session’ per week. This means that all your timetabled sessions are fitted into one day, which is usually quite a long day, but gets it all done in that one day. How each session is run is down to the lecturer responsible for that module. Some require you to attend a classroom for the full session, some use technology enhanced learning techniques to guide your learning differently; perhaps for example, extensively using online technologies.
We also run what we call ‘block mode’ delivery – which means that we ask you to complete each module within a ‘block’ of 8 weeks.
