After leaving school, Gordon began a 5 year apprenticeship with the well known local building company, Alford Brothers, based in Hambridge. Through day release at Somerset College of Art and Technology, he was eventually awarded his City and Guilds certificate in Painting and Decorating, followed later by the Advanced Craft Certificate.
