Museum nan Eilean is Britain’s most north westerly local authority museum providing a service to the islands of the Outer Hebrides from Barra in the South to Lewis in the North. Established in 1983 the museum operates from two centres, Stornoway in the north and Sgoil Lionacleit on the island of Benbecula in the south. It also works closely with the Comainn Eachdraidh, the distinctive and individual historical societies of the islands.
