Who Is Andy Sloan?
Right about now on the Facebook of any 'personal trainer', you may be expecting a long list of qualifications, a pile of stuff they’ve done, and to find out that they’re insured up to £X million.
Maybe a link to 'buy my shit' too.
Well, sadly my services, compared with the majority of the fitness industry, are anything BUT normal. Also to date, no one has ever come to me and said ‘Andy, I want to work with you because I have heard you have X, Y and Z certificate’.
In actual fact, the majority of people who come to work with me tell me that they are doing so because they have heard about the results my services deliver, usually from someone they know who has worked with me before.
This tells me 2 things.
A) People aren’t really that interested in what courses I’ve done
B) People want results, not details of my first aid certificate
Truth is, yes I have a whole bunch of certificates including personal training diplomas, a degree, some nutrition based things, a few sports related bits, and a load of others. If you are the 1 in a million person that wants to see my certificates – they’re at the studio so feel free to come and ask to see whatever you want - I’m more than happy to show you anything you’d like to check out ;-)
BUT . . . as I’ve said, people don’t work with me because of any of the bits of paper I have or letters after my name.
So the below 4 points are the extent of the business related ‘about me’ bit:
1) I’ve spent in excess of £20k on my education over the last few years, working with some of the industries greatest minds, including traveling to USA, Thailand and Spain to learn
2) In 2012 I was featured in the Independent and USA Today as being part of the World Fitness Elite: Trainers Of The Year
3) I’ve helped well over 1000 people in Dorset and beyond get the sorts of results you are looking for right now
4) I’ve recently been described as 2 things – 1) the best trainer in the world. 2) Weymouth's most handsome man . . . both of which by my mum.
When it comes to the ‘about me’ as a person, again, 4 points will do:
1) I’m married to the love of my life and best friend (same person), Kirstie. Without her, I’d be pretty lame
2) We’re expecting our first baby, a son, predicted to be born on my birthday in March 2013. Apparently I’m not aloud to choose the name.
3) I love sport, in particular triathlon, and in 2012 achieved my physical ambition of competing at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii
4) I have 2 cats, but always hated cats. Work that out, then please tell me how I ended up living with 2 cats.
Despite the light heartedness above, I take my professional development very seriously, and that’s why I invest so much time and money into improving my knowledge and skill set, as without continually improving, I’d be unable to deliver the sort of results that my business has become renowned for delivering.
I believe greatly in the work that I do, and also that every single person who comes to work with me deserves to look and feel how they are happiest, and that’s what motivates me every day in my work.
So look, enjoy the free information I share with you on this page, and on the blog, and hopefully you'll use it to make yourself leaner, fitter, stronger and more confident than ever.
To your success,
Andy
