World War 1 - 100

World War 1 - 100

14 London Street, Andover ,
2014 is the centenary of the start of WW1 and VIA would like to commemorate this where Britain declared war on Germany on the 04th of August 2014. This event is not to celebrate war in any way and in fact is to highlight the futility of war and how it effects not only those involved but the familes and communties where they live. It is estimated that up to 3 million British and Commonweath troops were either injured or killed during the war with many suffering from 'shell shock' with some being shot for cowardice. Many communities were affected with 'pals battalions' being formed that suffered heavy casualties during the Somme offensive in 1916 which disproprtionally affected who towns. As said this event is about raising funds and awareness of the many difficulties that veterans face long after the battles have ended. It is our aim to attempt to raise £1 for every British and Commonwealth service personnel who were either injured or killed. This is a staggering amount to be raised by a sall charity such as VIA and will need participation of many volunteers in every part of the country. The event is twofold and will start with our most ambitious challenge to date and our team will also apply for permits to fundraise in as many tons and cities across the UK where we will seel to apoint a co-ordinator for each location who will be responsible for getting a team of volunteers together to fundraise on the set date. The walk is a relay event with the focus being on those walking carrying a flag that will be passed between each veteran walking. Our team will set off Ypres Cemetery in Belgium passing through the Menin Gate before heading for Calais. At Calais the flag will be handed over to be rowed across the English Channel by veterans and will arrive in Dover and once again handed over to the walking team. The team will then walk to Twickenham Stadium to arrive on the 03rd of May 2014 for the Army v Navy rugby match. On the 04th of August the team will leave Twickenham Stadium and walk through London and down the Mall before arriving at Whitehall where the team will pause for reflection at the war memorials. The team will then set off travelling east through the city and heading for the coast where it will then proceed to walk around the coastline on a 3,600 mile route passing through the many towns and cities around th coast. The team will take 3 months to complete the route and will arrive back in Whitehall on the 02nd of August 2014 Our HQ Team will apply for permits on route so that the team can raise funds throughout the challenge. It is intended that many willl be able to walk with the team whether for a short distance or for few days and can get sponsored to do so.

Jacemi Glass Designs

Jacemi Glass Designs

Hi and welcome to my page. My name is Sarah. I am a creative person who likes to challenge my creativity, and one of the ways I did this was trying my hand at glass painting. Turns out I'm quite good at it, and as a result friend started asking me for orders. The faith my friends had in me, asking for items to help celebrate special occasions, was not only humbling, but also inspiring to maybe take a chance and start to advertise. I never expected it to take off as well as it has!!!! I offer bespoke designs on candleholders, hurricane vases, tea light holders, suncatchers and vases. I also do blank celebration cards and glass pendants. I am still expanding my design options, but if there is something specific you require and I can draw it, I can paint it. Please be aware that at the time of ordering, there is a lead time for painting and posting of 30 days, but I will advise an estimated time for completion at the time of ordering. If you can email your orders either through FB or Hotmail, I except payment in advance via Paypal or Bank Transer. Thank you for checking out my page, feel free to leave any comments and maybe recommend my page to your friends.
