ENGLISH: Largiemore is a working beef rearing farm. It is situated on the A83 at Kilkenzie, 4 miles from Campbeltown signposted at the bottom of the lane, second farm on the lane. Recently restored Largiemore B&B is ideal for holiday makers, cycles, surfers, golfers, walking holidays or just chilling out. It offers luxurious accommodition with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. We have three rooms, two of which are en-suite and the other has a private bathroom across the hall. All rooms are non-smoking. We have a guest lounge, a dining room, a new sun room. Tea/ coffee making facilities and biscuits and fresh fruit are in the dining room accessible at all times. The Firm of 'Glen Barr' Opticians was originally founded in 1922 by James Glen Barr. He started a small optical practice in the town of Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway (www.visitmoffat.co.uk). The sight of the original pratice still remains, complete with its glass veranda, commisioned by James (or 'Glen' as he preferred to be known). It is now the Moffat Wollen Mill. In 1943 James Glen Barr moved the practice to Dumfries and settled finally in a premises located at 9 Irving Street. It remains there to this day, almost 75 years later. (www.glen-barr.co.uk) In 1962 James retired and after completing his national service with the RAF, his son Alastair Glen Barr took over the mantle. Alastair was an innovator and took the practice to new levels. He personally imported displays from Milan in Italy, was one of the first in Scotland to use Rodenstock sight testing equipment and, in the late 1960's, beome a Varilux lens supplier.
