Lemon Tree Children and Family Centre (formerly Hanifah) stems from a 14 year vision that began from humble beginnings in 1999 when a small group of ladies led by Hawwa Haide started up the voluntary sector British Muslim Women and Children Support Group initially aimed at supporting and empowering women within the local community. However to enable the women to pursue projects that would enable them to gain skills and qualifications, there was a need for quality childcare facilities as several of them were mothers which led to the inception of the very first Hanifah Pre-School in Rusholme in 2000 offering full and part-time childcare. ‘Hanifah’ translated in English means ‘true Muslim’ which was seen as a fitting name to our organisation. “Ibrahim (Abraham) was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim Hanifah (Islamic Monotheism - to worship none but Allah Alone) and he was not of Al-Mushrikun” (Quran, 3:67) A desire began to loom for the Pre-School children to progress with an Islamic Education once they were ready to attend school which led to the incarnation of Hanifah Small School in 2001. Initially setup in Burnage the Small School soon moved over to Carlton Road, Whalley Range until moving to Dickenson Road, Longsight in 2005 where current head teacher Hanifah Kaaba was first employed. A second Pre-School was also opened alongside the Small School. In 2010 we made the decision to move the Small School and second Pre-School to Clifton Street, Old Trafford. Since 2013 we have opened a third Pre-School in Trinity House Community Resource Centre also in Rusholme. Over the years we have encountered a mixture of success and struggles. Many of the sisters who dedicated themselves to us have Masha ‘Allah gone on to further their careers, start businesses of their own or marry and start families. Our children have gone on to attend prestigious high and grammar schools. Alhamdulilah it is only with the blessing of Allah and the support of all of the staff, volunteers and parents who devoted their time and energy in to the organisation since its beginning up until to this present day that we have managed to become established within Manchester over the last 14 years. We hope that our support network carries over with us for many years to come and that we may continue delivering a service of excellence to the community. Our doors are open to parents and children from all backgrounds and walks of life. Insha’Allah at Network House we will be providing services such as: • Breakfast clubs • After school clubs • Homework clubs • Holiday care (for children up to the age of 11) • Tuition covering 11+ tests, GCSE and A-Level Tuition. Gatley Villiage is situated in Cheadle under the county of Cheshire. Parts of Gatley also come under the county of Greater Manchester. The roots of the village can be traced back to1290 when Gatley came under the name Gateclyve, which in Old English means "a place where goats are kept". Modern day Gatley has approximately 9000 residents, boasting residents from all over the world. Gatley has numerous landmarks including the war memorial Clock which has recently been restored as the village’s centrepiece. The Tatton Cinema continues to remain in the heart of the village but as of yet remains undeveloped.
