Is St Andrew’s, Croydon your old school?
This year we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of St Andrew’s Church of England school in Croydon. The current school is a far cry from the two schools originally opened in 1862, funded by the parish of St Andrew, Croydon. Then, there was a school for girls and infants and another for boys. Since its foundation at the end of the Nineteenth Century, St Andrew’s has undergone a number of changes on various sites. Now, in 2012, it has achieved its best examination results ever, there are well over 700 students and there is a Sixth Form planned for September 2013.
St Andrew’s School is celebrating its 150th anniversary by hosting a party for former staff and pupils. The invitation is to all who, across the generations, have worked or studied at the school.
Former pupils and staff of the school who would like to join the celebration at St Andrew’s during the evening of Saturday 8th December, should apply for a ticket (£5.00) by emailing 150anniversary@st-andrews.croydon.sch.uk
We are also interested in your memories of life at St Andrew’s. Please do let us have your reminiscences. We plan to publish a history of the school later this year and would like it to reflect the real experiences of its staff and pupils.
