'The Review' is an open mic night held in the Millennium Forum (Derry~Londonderry) between 9pm-1am on the last Friday of every month. 'The Review' offers a unique opportunity to emerging musicians of all geners: singer songwriters, performance poets, rock bands, et al to showcase their work in an intimate setting within a prestigious venue (Northern Bank Studio in the Millennium Forum). Laundhing on Culture Night (21st September) with FREE ADMISSION, 'The Review' will then continue to run on the last Friday of every month (26th October, 30th Novemember etc) at an admission fee of £3. Our opening night will feature bands and solos artsist such as: Justin Black; Jordan O'Keefe; Christine Donnan; Colleen Rose McCabe; Tom Stockman; Grace and Mercy; The Half Way Tree; a a few more suprise guests!!! Folk Guitar & Alternative Tunings An introduction to acoustic folk guitar, including standard and alternative folk style tunings such as Open G and DAGGAD. ----------------------------------------------------- Banjo/Mandolin Banjo and Mandolin workshops including Traditional and Blue Grass styles. ----------------------------------------------------- Mandolin, Guitar and Theory Beginners to advanced mandolin and acoustic guitar techniques and tunings, which also covers music theory. ----------------------------------------------------- Harmonica Basic blues harmonica techniques including more advanced cross-harping and different keys. ----------------------------------------------------- Song Writing Master Classes Concentrating on folk, alternative folk, country and traditional topics. ----------------------------------------------------- Rehearsal & Performance Skills The ultimate goal of these Folk Workshops is for the participants to gain the skills and confidence necessary to perform together or separately at the Foyle Folk Festival taking place in The Courtyard of Café Soul on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August. -----------------------------------------------------
