Imagine
imaGine has been set up by Transition Evesham Vale to provide a community meeting place in the heart of Evesham. Based in the former 'Homestyle' shop in the Market Square, it is already providing a shop window for local events and community organisations. Established as an experiment in communication and public engagement it already has an exciting range of attractions including the following:
'Books for Free' - In partnership with national charity 'Healthy Planet', an initiative to give readers a source of books, and reduce the quantities going to landfill.
Community Art - a place for local artists to display their work and meet fellow artists from Evesham and the Vale. Artists workshops are also planned for the near future
Roundabout Furniture - a town centre presence for the wonderful furniture re-use charity based in Blackminster
Future activities planned include
A display by Evesham Civic Society sharing thoughts and ideas for their future vision of Evesham
Clutterbusters - a service to help people 'de-clutter' their houses and raise money for good causes
Thinkers' corner - a meeting of minds and a place for enlightened conversation
A 'Repair Café' where you bring along things that need mending, and repairers bring them back to life.
Transition Evesham Vale (TEV) initiatives are helping people and communities shift towards a more sustainable future, by growing and eating more local food, reducing their energy consumption, and adopting lower carbon means of transport. TEV sees imaGine as a catalyst for change, working with local communities, exploring sustainability, discovering how we can work together for a healthier, happier, lower carbon future.
We hope to open imaGine every day of the week, but are currently limited by the number of available volunteers. If you enjoy reading, meeting like-minded people, and would like to support moves towards a more sustainable future for Evesham, please contact Robin on rwoffenham@gmail.com.
Please visit us and see our ideas Egg - you are welcome to add what you would like to see as part of imaGine - and help us to nurture these ideas and make them hatch.
