The Teddy Bear Shop
THE TEDDY BEAR SHOP, also known as EDWARDIAN TEDDIES, can be found inside the newly opened ANTIQUE EMPORIUM in the Edwardian Building, next door to Candles Plus.
Here you will find over 300 items, comprising a vast range of antique and vintage teddy bears, present day artist bears, one-of-a-kind-bears, old dolls. gollies and toys, and collectable tv film and book characters from earlier this century and from the last.
Steiff, Hermann, Chiltern, Chad Valley, Deans, Farnell, Pedigree, Merrythought, and Gund are just a few examples of the quality bear manufacturers represented here.
The antique and vintage dolls and gollies date from around the 1920s through to the end of last century.
You are also likely to find quite a few toys bring back your own childhood memories..."Oh look, I had one of those!!" is often heard from the "big kids" amongst the customers!!
And with prices starting at just £2.50, there is a bear, doll or toy to suit all pockets, young and old!
And for anyone wishing to know more about any bear before they make a purchase, please feel free to pop over to see the Teddy Bear Shop proprietor, Gill Kelly, who also runs the Tasty Buds ice cream and sweet shop at the head of the car park.
An avid vintage bear and toy collector herself, she will be able to furnish additional detail on virtually all the items she has for sale at the shop, particularly with regard to the history of the manufacturer where known.
And of course whilst you are there you can reminisce further with a quarter of your childhood favourites from our traditional jars of old fashioned sweets!!!
