Friends of Ilkley Lido

Ilkley Pool & Lido, Denton Road, Ilkley ,
The Friends of Ilkley Lido (FOIL) exists to ensure that the Lido is protected and improved for the enjoyment of all and that it is preserved for use by many generations to come. Founded in 2008, FOIL is run for and by those who love the Lido and want to support, protect and improve this fantastic facility. We aim to provide a strong voice for Lido users and to play a leading role in promoting and improving the Lido for the benefit of the local and wider community. We work with Bradford Council and many other organisations and groups, raise funds, organise events and activities to broaden use of the Lido, link with other local friends groups and outdoor pools around the country to share ideas, help to publicise and promote the Lido, input to future planning and much more. Plus of course we all enjoy the Lido, frequently meeting up for a dip and chat!
Lishmans Of Ilkley

Lishmans Of Ilkley

25 Leeds Road, Ilkley ,
Lishmans is a traditional butcher in Ilkley and a very popular destination for food fanatics. I have twice been awarded the national title of Champion Sausage Maker and am very passionate about the good, honest sausage. Lishmans are the proud creators of the official Yorkshire Sausage. After 4 months of county-wide public tastings we unveiled Yorkshire’s official signature sausage: a slightly peppery sausage containing parsley and traditional spices. We have released the official recipe to fellow butchers and many are now producing their own Yorkshire sausages according to our recipe.

All Saints Parish Church - Ilkley

All Saints Parish Church - Ilkley

Church Street, Ilkley ,
Christians have worshipped on this site since about 627 AD. The first church would have been built of stone taken from the abandoned Roman fort of Olicana which stood on this spot. The present building is partly medieval, but it was largely rebuilt in Victorian times, and there have ben 20th century additions and alterations. Each generation has adapted the bu...ilding to suit its needs, but the Gospel message has remained unchanged throughout the centuries. 'Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever' Far from being a museum, the church building today is the centre of worship for many local Christian people of all ages. To go for a tour of some of the main features, click on the Features link to the left. For more details on the famous Saxon Crosses that are now found within the church, click on the Saxon Crosses now found within the church, click on the Saxon Crosses link. To see some the many stained glass windows, click on the Windows link. And to read more about the many brasses found within the church, select the Brasses link. We hope you will enjoy your visit, and we ask you to pray for us, as we pray for you. THe church WEB site can be found at http://www.ilkleypc.co.uk/ *** Facebook users feel free to exchange info on the groups pages that would be of interest to anyone who has any connection to All Saints both past & present ***

The Flying Duck

The Flying Duck

16 Church Street, Ilkley ,
The pub was bought from Enterprise Inns in September 2010 by Jonathan Shepherd and David Russell as an Investment property. Along with 14 other investors, the two of them have formed a company to take over the running of the pub on a long lease. Most of them were founder members of the Ilkley Beer Festival and live in or around the town. Planning permission was granted (March 2013) to renovate the grade II listed building and put right the wrongs of various pub co's to form a Yorkshire Dales style real ale pub with a small microbrewery at the back and to create a venue that the town will be proud of. The name of the pub will become the Flying Duck in a link to it's former name of the Mallard Inn. The brewery, which will predominantly serve the pub, will be called Wharfedale Brewery. More details will follow as the re-development continues during 2013.
