Open Door is an independent community film club based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. We aim to bring together the community through our shared love of films. The club is based in a space accessible to everyone, and we welcome anybody who'd like to be a part of it! The club opens its doors every three weeks on Thursday evenings, 6-8pm. We are based in Skills For People Key House, Tankerville Place in Jesmond. Tickets are £4 with free popcorn for everyone who attends, just to get you in the cinema mood! There's also a well-stocked cafe with drinks and sweet treats available. Open Door encourages all its members to be as involved as they'd like. Feedback is welcome and at each screening we give you the opportunity to vote for the next film to be shown. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for details of all future screenings. During the 2012 Olympic Games, Holy Trinity Church Jesmond was transformed into a vibrant and welcoming community café: serving great coffee, tea and fairtrade snacks ; a toddler play area and a programme for people of all ages. Well we’re back for 2013 with a twist! We’ve been opening the café space and the toddler play area but adding in a new feature: Messy Church. On each occasion there's eight themed activity tables full of crafts and games for children and parents to do together. There's also an optional all together time: 15 minutes of story telling and singing. So you can simply come and use the café and soak up the atmosphere or read a paper, or bring the kids – there's loads for them to do. The choice is yours.
