Holy Trinity Church Knaresborough

Holy Trinity Church Knaresborough

Briggate, Knaresborough ,
Our Sunday Eucharist takes place at 10.30 a.m. with incense used on the first and third Sundays. On the second Sunday we celebrate our ‘all age’ Eucharist with a welcome for the newly baptised and their families. We are delighted to baptise infants and adults and marry qualifying couples. Funerals and bereavement support are also offered. Each Wednesday at 10.00 a.m. we celebrate Holy Communion according to the Book of Common Prayer, with a short homily. Evensong and Saints days are held as advertised. Holy Trinity is justly famous for its hospitality, in worship and our shared life. Teas are available on the first Sunday of the month, with delicious homemade baking, sandwiches and soups. Quiz nights are regularly held in our hall. We have a regular fellowship and study group, as well as enjoying meetings and fellowship as part of the Parish Ladies and Mothers Union. Every year we play host to a “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. Holy Trinity is a place where the family of God meet together to share in his risen life, with all the joys and sorrows we experience. Together, we seek to grow in our faith and live out our discipleship in the community. We have a large church hall which is well-used by a variety of groups, including pilates and zumba exercise classes, a school of speech and drama, rabbit clubs, flower arrangers, Scottish dancing, a parent and toddler group and more. This valuable community resource is also available for hire for parties. The church hosts concerts for the annual FEVA (Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts) and the church is regularly open to the public in the summer months. Several recent exhibitions have been held in the church, including illuminated letters, paintings and other works of art, and a flower festival. As part of its outreach work with younger members of the community, Holy Trinity plays host to visiting school groups and also operates a parent/carer and toddler group. The clergy visit schools to provide services. At the other end of the age range services are provided for local older persons’ care homes and home visits for the housebound members of our community. A team of helpers from the church regularly serves at the Friendship and Leisure Club for pensioners. We aim to be accessible, warm and welcoming to all.
