CONGRATULATIONS on your A-level results and getting a place a Loughborough University... trust us when we say the next few years of your life are going to be absolutely amazing! Even more important CONGRATULATIONS for choosing Towers Hall as your home.. we are OFFICIALLY the best hall on campus. Last year we won the most converted title of Hall Of The Year 2010-11 which makes us NO.1 on campus! Now that you have your place here in Towers you will want to know everything you possibly can to get you organised and prepared for the start of the year, so please please please feel free to ask any questions on this page and we will do our very best to answer! > Towers Hall (like other halls) is run by a committee of 16 students. We are here to make sure your time at Loughborough and in Towers is faultless so don't be afraid to ask us ANYTHING! > Your moving in day is Tuesday 27th September, you will be able to book your moving in time slot through the Student Accommodation Centre website, try and make sure you arrive before 5pm since we have our welcome dinner at this time. > Your future home address is: Towers Hall, Loughborough University, Leicestershire, LE11 3TG. All post can be collected from the dining hall throughout term time. > You will probably not be told your room and floor until the day you arrive so unfortunately we can't let you know in advance however if you're high up, there are lifts and plenty of people around to help out so don't worry about having to pack light. > Your Freshers Week 2011 planner will be updated shortly and when it's all up we will make sure you know where to find it... it is looking amazing guys so start getting very excited! > Loads of extra information can be found at www.towershall.co.uk under the FRESHERS 2011-12 section of the website! CMS at Loughborough provides a thorough understanding of both historical and contemporary developments across a number of key mass media sectors.

The Department of Information Science employs 21 academic staff, five of whom are Professors and one of whom is a Reader. DIS is Home in 2011 to 330 undergraduate students, 84 postgraduate students and 40 research students. A School of Librarianship was established at Loughborough College in 1947 and there are details of it in the College Calendars from 1948 onwards. When Loughborough College was split up in 1952 the Library School became part of Loughborough College of Further Education (later renamed, Loughborough Technical College in 1966 and Loughborough College in 1988). From 1967 the Technical College and the University of Technology collaborated to establish a degree in Library Studies and it was proposed in 1970 to take the School of Librarianship into the University. However, the University set up its own Department of Library Studies and appointed a Head of Department in 1972. This Department was formally approved by Senate in 1973. The Technical College was to retain the two year course and the University was to teach the undergraduate and postgraduate courses and the two institutions were to work in collaboration. The Technical College’s School of Librarianship was eventually closed in 1988 and some of its courses and staff were taken on by the University’s Department of Library and Information Studies.
