Lowestoft Responders
Lowestoft Responders is a group of dedicated volunteers who respond on behalf of the East of England Ambulance NHS Trust in and around our local area. The area which we cover is; Hopton, Lound, Herringfleet, Somerleyton, Blundeston, Flixton, Corton, Oulton, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, Kirkley, Pakefield, Carlton Colville, Gisleham and Kessingland.
The volunteers are trained by the East of England Ambulance NHS Trust in Emergency First Aid to a level which enables the Community First Responders to undertake the role, this also includes the use of a Automed External Defibrillator
The calls which we attend are; Abdonimal Pains, Allergies, Non-Traumatic Back Pain, Breathing Problems, Cardiac/Respiratory Arrest, Chest Pains, Choking, Fitting, Diabetic Problems, Drowning (near), Falls, Headaches, Heart Problems, Sick Person, Stroke/CVA, Unconscious/Passing Out.
The group responds to between 300 - 400 calls a year, and receives no payment for the serivce which they provide.
Lowestoft Responders currently have 9 active members with a further 4 who are going through the application stages.
