Poppies of Lydney has been established since 1985 and our team of friendly, qualified and knowledgeable staff have an impressive 45 years combined experience. We also sell luxury gifts such as handmade Belgian chocolates, quality scented candles, hampers, and also glassware, gift cards, helium balloons, soft toys and a full range of quality artificial flowers. We are licensed to deliver champagne and wine, and also stock wines from a local prizewinning vineyard in the heart of the Wye Valley. We can deliver other alcoholic beverages upon request. The Club aims to allow youngsters to develop individually and socially through football with the provision of training by qualified coaches and participation in competitive matches. Currently it is possible for children ranging in age from 8 to 16 to participate. At present approximately 130 children from Lydney and the surrounding area are registered to take part in Club activities. The Club is managed by a dedicated team which acknowledges its role in providing a supportive, safe environment for children to develop. It seeks to maximize enjoyment for all participants by placing emphasis on teamwork, respect and support. Winning is a clear objective in any competitive activity and it is nice to achieve but this Club measures success in terms of how it contributes to enhance the development of each individual. It therefore seeks to provide appropriate challenges and recognition at an individual level within the team environment. In the 2012/13 season teams will represent the Club at U/9 to U/16 level in the Gloucestershire Youth Association Football League. the greyhound Lydney is a well established pub community pub within lydney. the managers Annette and Hayley are two local ladies who have been a punter at the greyhound for many years they are both very friendly and welcoming people. the greyhound has a large beer which is very popular with the punters during the summer and warmer months. within the pub we have the main bar which has a traditional layout with an open fire our gambling machines and our jukebox. Windrush lake is clay based,roughly 4 acre lake and is up to 12 foot deep.It was dug out 11/12 years ago.Since opening in March 2011 the lake has had a good head of carp (up to 30lb). The lake was stocked in October 2010 with 100 simos which have bloomed in size and weight.There is also Pike and a selection of silverfish, rudd, perch and roach;all of which have been caught at good sizes. Prices: £3 evening session £5- Day ticket (Dusk) £10-24 hrs £100 per year from april 1st 2013 The gates will shut at 7:30.No tickets to be sold after this time.
