Ryedale Youth was formed in 1991 in memory of Mrs June Veysey, whose dream was to create a local youth theatre. The company is led and inspired by its Artistic Director and Choreographer Angela Kirkham and Musical Director Martin Dixon. Auditions for the annual Easter production take place in November and the 70 acting members meet for rehearsals every Thursday evening thereafter and during half term and Easter holidays. Ryedale Youth Theatre encourages its members to learn about all aspects of theatrical production, with older members involved in the production as assistant directors, choreographers, stage managers and assisting with sound and lighting, props and scenery painting etc. Many of our ex-members have gone on to work successfully in professional theatre, TV and film.
