Since 2006 the local branch of Cats Protection has been working hard to help needy cats and kittens in the Lancaster, Morecambe and South Cumbria areas. Cats for rehoming are placed with our dedicated fosterers, who may have one or two cat pens (similar to those in a boarding cattery) or a dedicated room inside their home where a cat can be looked after until a suitable new home is found. We work closely with Bay Vets to ensure that all the cats and kittens in our care have a thorough veterinary check, are vaccinated, microchipped and, if old enough, neutered. Free insurance for the first 4 weeks of ownership is provided via Petplan Insurance. As a charity, we rely solely upon the adoption fee and donations to help us pay for items such as veterinary / medical expenses, neutering costs, transport, etc. Fundraising is a vital part of our work - we raise money from sales, fairs, and our charity shop, to enable the Branch to care for the cats and kittens we foster.
