This river bank is under a serious thread to be forever destroyed by a construction of a 400 yard large, purposeless ghat made of artificial materials like cement and concrete on the eastern side of the river. It is an ancient practice to build ghat on western side to welcome sunrise by offering prayers. The construction is initiated by a branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
