Fairy/Pixie Portraits
I studied art at Duncan of Jordanstone Art School and graduated
with a BA (hons) in design and printmaking.
I absolutely love drawing portraits and have a history of working with fairies (making art dolls and other fairy kits and magical things;)
So, combining these elements, I have created the Fairy/pixie portrait idea.
I create the portraits by drawing onto handstained paper, which I stain myself to give a beautiful textured, atmospheric background to the piece.
On to this I use a selection of hard and soft graphite pencils and pen and ink to highlight detail and depth.
Photographs submitted need to be of good quality where I can
see all the features of the face clearly.
We can collaborate on the finished look, eg, if you like the pointy ears look
or prefer the portrait without, or would like text included we can discuss the finer details before and during the drawing process.
I will show you the work as it nears completion so any last minute changes/additions can be made.
I can also incorporate text into the drawing. If there's a poem that's a favourite or a lyric from a song, or a favourite saying,
I can work this into the portrait, giving it a totally unique twist that's personal to the recipient.
Sizes can vary, and again, we can discuss your requirements
but generally, to get enough detail into the work I like to work
to A3 sized paper with the head size approx 5" in height.
Smaller or larger sizes can be discussed.
I can do group portraits of more than 1 person/child and again final sizes, prices can be discussed...I do like to discuss :)
As part of the package I also include a number of good quality colour prints so that other family members can have a copy of the portrait too!
