Silver Street - Stockton-on-Tees - TS18
Welcome to our Silver Street Facebook Page!
SILVER STREET is one of the oldest retail streets in Stockton. Taking its name from the many silversmiths that once inhabited this historic thoroughfare, in its time, The Pram Shop, Maddox Pet Store, Lockwoods Shoe Shop, Donald Carruther's Menswear and Leo’s Homemade Sweet Shop once traded here. The town centre has undergone many developments in recent years including new accommodation for the growing student population, the Millennium Footbridge, the Queen's Campus of Durham University, a number of office buildings built along the south bank of the River Tees as part of the Teesdale development and the Infinity Bridge.
At SILVER STREET we have a lot to offer our customers (old-fashioned good customer service - a friendly face to welcome each visitor, keeping firmly in mind that shopping can and should be a pleasure), with its historic buildings, hosting a diverse range of independent traders: creative hairstylists, computer games, a barber's (with traditional wet razor and towel), a newly opened gift shop, designer menswear & hire, a speciality jeweller, bookmakers, solicitors, modeller's shop and estate agents. And, there are opportunities in Silver Street too, for new business entrepreneurs.
Have a take-out skinny latte to go from the coffee lounge and chill-out for a moment-or-two under the contemporary windchime sculpture overlooking the Tees. Then perhaps a stroll alongside the riverside will lead you to the Castlegate Quay - moored there is a full-size replica of Captain Cook's vessel, the Bark ‘Endeavour’.
