Vedic Art is a step-by-step process that guides you towards painting from a place beyond intellectual thinking and construction. This method invites you to experience the flow of your creativity, leaving behind the need for technical perfection and the pressure to achieve. Images arise as we go through the principles of Vedic Art that address aspects of both art and life simultaneously. This approach to creative painting is an invitation for you to explore and experience the joy, wisdom and powerful potential that lies beyond notions of right and wrong, and in this way access your very own personal language of creativity. No previous painting experience needed. Both those with no experience of Vedic Art and those with some experience are warmly welcomed. Glynis Rose is facilitating a Vedic Art course at Greenhead Village Hall from the 30th of July to the 5th of August. What is Vedic Art you ask? Well I was first introduced to Vedic Art when I lived in Sweden. One cold winter’s afternoon my daughter and I were exploring the city of Stockholm when we both looked into a well light gallery window and proclaimed together, ‘I like those paintings’. From that time on I was determined to find out more and eventually discovered that the founder of Vedic Art was a Swedish artist named Curt Kallman (1938 - 2010). Curt spent many years studying the teachings of the Veda (ancient sacred writings of Hinduism) which state that all knowledge exists within each of us, like a seed ‘knowing’ how to become a flower. When nature is allowed to follow its own course, everything is in perfect balance. This includes us if we allow ourselves to be guided back to the source within. Curt combined traditional western art school methods with the Indian Vedic philosophy and created the 17 principles of Vedic Art. It is by working through these principles that we can remember how to connect with that natural longing to create unity. To create is something so natural that everyone is able to do it. Through Vedic Art you can have that direct experience. The 17 principles are simply a set of tools that guide you from within. A few years ago I attended a Vedic Art course with Curt Kallman in Majorca. I was fortunate enough to be invited to join Curt the following year in Sweden where I studied and trained as a teacher of Vedic Art.
