The Yard is a collaboration between architecture and theatre practitioners. We are building a temporary theatre space, converted from a dormant warehouse. We are opening the space this summer. It is located in Hackney Wick and sits on the canal opposite the Olympic Park, 5 minutes from the station, 2 minutes from bus routes. The Yard are offering time, space and a supportive environment to artists, cost free. Our space can house both large and small scale work. The design of the theatre will be informed by the productions that are programmed. It is managed and run by a team of theatre-makers and artists who believe in the power of theatre to enthral and engage. We want to create a community of artists who work at the theatre, contributing to its running and management. This ensemble will be helped by groups of volunteers from the local community and wider London. Our ambition is to create an environment where artists can thrive and take the risks necessary to create remarkable work.
