Rothbury Football Club

Rothbury Football Club

Armstrong Park, Rothbury ,
Rothbury Football Club was founded in 1876, and as such is one of the oldest clubs in Northumberland. The football pitch at Armstrong Park, gifted to the club by Armstrong Estate in1984, was originally opened in 1949. Maintained by local volunteers, it is generally accepted as being among the finest in the county. The original wooden clubhouse was greatly prized until decay and woodworm set in and new premises were required to house the increasing number of players. In 1979 local supporters with a variety of building skills cooperated to build a new clubhouse: an excellent example of community action.
Futsal Fives Royston

Futsal Fives Royston

Royston Leisure Centre, Woodcock Road, Royston ,
Finally, after years of English Football being behind the likes of Spain and Brazil, the incredible version of 'Futsal' has reached our shores. For years it has been used on the continent to develop some of the best players in the modern game. The likes of Messi, Xavi and Ronaldiniho have all been brought up on Futsal, playing the version more than any other up until their late teens. It is now developing in England and it is now your turn to get involved! How? - A Royston based Futsal League running as a partnership between Royston Leisure Centre and Royston Town FC, for anyone aged 16 years and above. The Futsal League will be established with the FA and will use their Futsal Fives model. Where? - Royston Leisure Centre, Royston, Hertfordshire. Fixtures will take place every Sunday between 16.00 and 19.00pm, with the first season starting on Sunday 10 June 2012. Why? - Having been introduced to Futsal, coaches in the area can see the huge benefits of the fast-paced and skillful game. A team of qualified coaches now want to introduce it to as many players as possible within Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Not another Summer waiting for pre-season, start playing now and be in a Futsal League over the break! In the past we have played 5-a-side with indoor balls, often oversized tennis balls that fly around the sports hall with little control. Play one game of Futsal and you will see more touches, more skill and more control - any player who loves an 'ole' moment will love this format! It's not a replacement to the beautiful game we all love; it's an addition to it. And if it's good enough for Messi, it is good enough for anyone. So tell your mates and get involved! Any ability - whether you want to improve your skills or simply try it out, just get a team together and enquire for a registration form. Interested? - Contact Amy Shepherd at Royston Leisure Centre on 01763 255190.

Sandwell Volleyball Tournament

Sandwell Volleyball Tournament

Sandwell Park Farm, King George Playing Fields, West Bromwich ,
Returning this year for 2013 is the legendary Sandwell Volleyball Tournament! This tournament continues to grow and grow, with its return as a one day tournament in 2010 with 30 teams entered. This grew to 40 in 2011, but unfortunately had to be cancelled in 2012 due to the inclement weather. However this year we hope to be able to grow, hopefully expanding the tournament to its original 2 day tournament with camping, from back in its 450 team hey day. The tournament aims to provide fun, yet competitive volleyball for those experienced players, yet does not exclude those players inspired by 2012 or who just want to get back into volleyball. The GO SPIKE arena aims to give those players who maybe have never played before, or haven't played since school the chance to play with qualified coaches on hand to provide you with the opportunity to learn how to play the 3rd biggest ticketed event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
