Keannas Dream
This facebook page has been set up for my daughter, keanna. Keanna is 4 years old & she has diplegic cerebral palsy which affects her mobility, co-ordination, posture & fine motor skills. Cerebral palsy affects everyone differently, the type keanna has mainly affects her legs, preventing her from walking or standing unaided.
Keanna is a very bright, determined girl & is desperate to walk like her brother, friends & cousins but at the moment she can only walk a very short distance using her kaye walker as she tires very easily due to the tightness in her leg muscles.
After alot of research, we have discovered an operation called selective dorsal rhizotomy (sdr) which is available in america at st louis childrens hospital, missouri. In my opinion this operation is the best & only option we have is giving keanna the freedom/happiness & quality of life she so deserves.
Keannas dream has been created to help us to raise the £40.000 needed for the cost of the operation, which will be life-changing for our daughter. The cost of the operation includes a month long stay in america, this is to enable keanna to have the essential after-care & intensive physio required to allow the operation to work to its full potential. The surgery is done by Dr TS Park who has performed this surgery over 2,000 times with a 100% success rate. Sdr involves selecting then cutting the nerves in keannas spine which cause her muscles to be very tight, relieving the pain, discomfort & allowing her to have flat feet for the 1st time.
Please help keannas dream to come true by helping us in any way you can, donating to her surgery fund, give us ideas for fundraising, doing your own things to help, donating prizes/gifts for raffles, race nights. Any donation/help you can give is very much appreciated as it will help us get one step closer to making our beautiful girls dream come true! xxx
