The School of Health Sciences located at the universities Llandaff Campus, is made up of 9 areas and covers a wide portfolio of courses in the Biological Medicine, Health Sciences and Social Sciences areas, with a number of the programmes being unique within Wales.
The School is research active, has a wide range of ongoing enterprise activities and professionally accredited programmes which provide excellent career opportunities with unique paths into higher and furthered degree programmes.
The Centre for Biomedical Research conducts research on the biology of disease with a focus on molecular, cellular and neurological biology. In addition to research funded by medical charities, welsh and british government and industry, the centre provides a range of consultancy services to the private and public sector.
In addition to the centre for Biomedical Research, the school provides centres for Health and Environmental Safety, Podiatric Medicine and the Wales Applied Research Clinic. Acting both independently and in collaboration with other higher education institutions, health and social care practitioners and the voluntary sector. The school provides teams of researchers working in medical and health sectors and social care, including psychology, speech & language therapy, dental technology, biological medicine, and pharmacology. Integration of theory and evidence-based practice, the school uses its own facilities including multiple state-of-the-art clinics, laboratories, x-ray units and private practice facilities to achieve academic excellence.
