Woods Forest Ponies
Horses and ponies have been a massive part of my life for over 30 years. Dressage is my main area of interest and having a well trained and balanced horse or pony to ride. I own a 17hh Warmblood who I bought as a foal from his breeder. I left college and worked as a freelance groom and I have worked with several New Forest Ponies over the years that have either been my own or other peoples. Living in the heart of The New Forest myself it seems only logical to have an interest in the breed that lives all around me! There are always exceptions to the rule obviously, but I love the breed for it's intelligence, it's versatility and fabulous temperament. I do not breed, but do have a huge interest in the bloodlines of this breed and am always keen to learn more. When time allows and the right pony comes along I like to buy a youngster as a project to bring on either backed or unbacked (but if they have been sat on it's always a bonus!!). I produce them slowly in a relaxed way and all my horses and ponies live in a very 'chilled' out environment at our home in North Gorley. Where I like the flatwork, my brave and gutsy niece likes the jumping so that works well and it means that the ponies also get used to being ridden by a lighter weight young girl as well as me! They also get professionally schooled over jumps by local young lady that I use. They receive a good all round education and get out and experience some of the world before I then find them the next perfect home that is experienced enough to continue with this and keep them heading in the right direction. A home where the ponies ridden career whether it's in showing, pony club or just as a fun family allrounder can really begin. A ponies temperament and nature is the most important thing to me. I am a mum of two and my self preservation is a lot stronger than it used to be!! I will not take on a problem pony or one that is not kind, bold and genuine. Obviously conformation and movement is also important and lastly it's always a bonus if they look like the next top model too (but not always essential if someone wants a kind and fun family friend!). I won't rush a pony through just to make a quick buck. I may have it in for 2 months or 2 years!! Finding the right home is very important to me. Have a look at our page to see ponies past and present. On average the plan is to have one or two a year, but like I have said, when time, finances and the family allows!!
