Old Bexley and Sidcup is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by James Brokenshire, a Conservative.HistorySir Edward Heath, (prime minister of the United Kingdom 1970-1974), held this seat and its predecessors from 1950 until 2001 when he retired; at the age of 85 he was by now the nation's oldest member of parliament.The two general elections from 2001 were won by Derek Conway, elected as a Conservative Party candidate. However on 29 January 2008 the Conservative Party withdrew the whip from Derek Conway following alleged misuse of funds, and he became an Independent MP. He retired in 2010 and the seat was won by the Conservative James Brokenshire, who had transferred to this seat and approved by his local party when his former seat of Hornchurch was abolished in boundary changes.Since its creation with the exception of the 1997 New Labour Landslide the constituency large majorities suggest a Conservative safe seat.

Bexley was a local government district in north west Kent from 1879 to 1965 around the town of Old Bexley.HistoryThe parish of Bexley adopted the Local Government Act 1858 in 1879, and a local board of 15 members was formed to govern the area. The local board established offices at Oxford Place, High Street, Bexley.The Local Government Act 1894 reconstituted the local board's area as an urban district. Bexley Urban District Council replaced the board. In 1902 the urban district was enlarged by absorbing the neighbouring parish of East Wickham, formerly in Dartford Rural District. The enlarged urban district was divided into three wards: Christ Church (returning 8 councillors), St Mary's (5) and East Whickham (2). The Council offices moved to Broadway, Bexleyheath. The urban district council ran its own tram services until they became the responsibility of the London Passenger Transport Board in 1933.The town was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1935. The royal charter was presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Kent in a ceremony held in Danson Park on 30 September. A corporation consisting of a mayor, 6 aldermen and 18 councillors replaced the UDC, with the first elections being held on 1 November.

A number of studios have existed in this area since film production began in 1927. Some of those studios no longer exist, but several studios still survive today. They are all owned by different organisations and produce both motion pictures and television programmes. For example, the BBC has studios in Elstree, named "BBC Elstree Centre", whereas another company, Elstree Studios Limited, owns a separate site known as "Elstree Studios". As a result confusion often occurs.

London Docklands is the semi-official name for an area in east and southeast London, England. It forms part of the boroughs of Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Lewisham, Newham and Greenwich. The docks were formerly part of the Port of London, at one time the world's largest port. They have now been redeveloped principally for commercial and residential use. The name London Docklands was used for the first time in a government report on redevelopment plans in 1971 but has since become virtually universally adopted. It also created conflict between the new and old communities of the London Docklands.

The school is a specialist Arts College, Leading Edge School and national School of Creativity. Occupancy of the new school scheduled to take place in 7 November 2011.The School was built in 1971, originally for 850 pupils. It now has nearly 2000 pupils. It is built on the site of a former RAF airfield. A blue plaque to recognise this has been put up on one of the corridors connecting the school's buildings.The school and its facilitiesThomas Tallis originally had two main buildings, which are joined together by two 'links'. In between the two buildings is a concourse area. The school opened in 1973. The school has expanded with a series of temporary schoolrooms being built around the two main buildings. The school currently uses the front fields while the re-build of the school is taking place. In 2004 an obstacle course including climbing facilities was constructed behind one of the school buildings on the opposite side of the school to the main field. This was demolished as part of the new school programme as well as reported cases of Asbestos. The school itself has one sports hall, gym hall, general rooms, science labs, I.C.T rooms a specialised deaf support centre and other on-site facilities. This old, somewhat decrepit (but lovable) site is now being demolished after the movement to the new school site.Criminal incidentsRichard Reid, also known as "The Shoe Bomber," attended the school. In 1997, fifteen-year-old pupil Nathan Brown, a member of a gang called the Golden Snakes, murdered CJ Rickard, 14, from the neighbouring Kidbrooke School, with a 17-inch machete. Six other pupils at the school were jailed for a total of twenty years after admitting conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent.

The centre is the only one inside the borough of Lewisham (unless you count the small shopping plaza in Catford), and also the nearby Greenwich Borough. The centre is also the home of a large Citibank tower. This is not accessible from inside the centre, and is not a public shopping place/bank.
